What does Dior Represent? What are the key features of a Dior dress? What is a Dior signature look? Why is it one of the most popular brands?
To know whether a designer's left a mark on fashion you need to close your eyes and think what they represent. Some brands have a stronger DNA than others, and through these series we identify the components of each that make them unique and stand out from the rest.
The first one we introduced was Dior...Dior is the epitome of Romanticism, and it should be the first word that pops in your head when you hear the word 'romance'.
One of the most famous perfumes in the world is the J'adore, famously taking the shape of a female's body. Romance is the essence of Dior. Models and ambassadors are presented as very soft, yet confident. They embrace their femininity with a quality of mystery, excitement and remoteness from the everyday life.

The New Look
Christian Dior and artist René Gruau were the primary makers of a new feminine figure, who became the symbol of the refined woman post-war: the new look. A sinuous silhouette, highlighted by a super narrow waist.
It was a celebration of femininity - an escapism after World War II. In a way, the New Look is a political movement, redefining the woman and symbolising the beginning of a new, post-war society.
Christian Dior didn't want to create every day clothes for pragmatic women. He wanted to sell a dream of the good old days, where women could afford to be extravagant and glamorous, and embrace their female characteristics.
The New Look still remains a strong feature of the brand, throughout the years. The waist cut is always the same. In the end, Dior is all about a strong, confident woman that remains soft.

Other symbols of Dior include, the bee and the lily of the valley.
Dior Under John Galliano
An extraordinary mixture of romanticism (evident influences from the renaissance) feminism and modernity.
Dior Under Maria Grazia Chiuri
The intertwinement of other cultures and heritages.
The Dior Ambassadors
Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Bella Hadid among them.
Dior is so popular because it symbolises beauty and femininity in the purest form.
It is about elegance, inspiring a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.
